Leather and water

  • Can I wear my leather bracelet at the pool?
    At the beach?
  • Can I keep my leather bracelet on in the shower?
  • When should I remove my leather strap?
  • Can I keep my leather strap on during my workout?

If you’re asking yourself all these questions, then you’ve come to the right place.
We’re going to tell you everything, in detail.
Leather is an animal material that doesn’t really stand up to water.
Even though our bracelets are treated, they’re not waterproof, so they shouldn’t be immersed in water.
No baths, no swimming pools, no seas.
No exceptions.
Light splashes from washing hands or dishes are no problem, however.
If your bracelet has been in contact with water, don’t let it dry in the sun.
Pat it dry with a cloth to remove any moisture, then let it air-dry, away from light.
Do not use a hair dryer.

As the Apple Watch has been waterproof since Series 2, you can wear it for sports, swimming, at the beach, etc. However, we advise you to choose bracelets that are suitable for immersion in water, such as fluoroelastomer or nylon sports bracelets, which won’t be damaged by water or perspiration.
On the one hand, moisture on the wrist with leather around it is not very pleasant.
On the other hand, perspiration, chlorine and seawater are aggressive and will damage leather very quickly.
We’ve already got some back from the after-sales service, and it’s not a pretty sight.

Maintenance

Caring for your leather bracelet

No maintenance is necessary or recommended for your leather bracelets.
Leather is treated for maximum resistance and a beautiful patina over time.
It should not be cleaned, nourished, waxed or otherwise treated.
In fact, the cleaning products used for shoes, handbags, clothes, car seats or leather sofas are not suitable for bracelets, which have finer leather.
So forget about the following products, which your bracelet’s fine leather won’t be able to absorb:

  • Cleansing milk
  • Shoe polish
  • Leather cream
  • Shoe cream
  • Sneaker cleaners
  • Leather oils
  • Leather soaps
  • Suede shoe care products
  • Waterproofing
  • Leather shampoo

Water-repellent

to withstand accidental splashes (but must not be immersed in water).
